BC Search is a Search Engine coded by Ben C in 2020. It runs on 4 programming languages: Python, HTML, Javascript & CSS. 3380 lines of code powers the search feature which is explained below. Similar to most popular search engines, the code behind BC Search is a closely guarded secret. However, we will explain how BC Search works:

• 0627 lines of Python powers the BC Search Crawler and manages the BC Search Index. Python also generates some of the code that powers the user interface.
• 0295 lines of HTML run this website and tell the browser what needs to appear on this page.
• 2262 lines of Javascript powers the BC Search feature. The Javascript handles user interaction with the BC Search page as well as searching through the index.
• 0116 lines of CSS control the visual layout of this BC Search page.
• 0035 lines of PHP works alongside javascript to display results. UPDATE: BC Search now uses PHP!

How to use BC Search

Here are some handy tricks that you can use on BC Search:

• Search - Type a search query to find results.
• URL Search - Search results from a specific url by using 'site:http(s)://www.[URL HERE]'.
• Knowledge Pannel - Search for a company nsme to read about them.
• New Weather - Show the weather for a given area by using 'weather:[FIRST HALF OF POSTCODE]'.
• New Dictionary - Show the definition for a given word by using 'define:[WORD]'.
